Published in 1887 this is definitely free of all copyright; copyrights can only apply to new matter. In this case, "Limitation of Claim; New Matter -- NM: adaptation" so provided our copy doesnt use their "adaptation", all is well. John Vandenberg 00:03, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

djvu

[edit]

This djvu could be uploaded to Wikisource, as it is definitely PD in the US. I am not sure if it is also PD in the UK, so it might not be suitable for Commons. John Vandenberg (chat) 21:30, 9 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

"cañon" spelling

[edit]

Should all occurrences of canon/canons/Canon be replaced with the "cañon" form?

According to the gutenberg copy, this is the correct spelling. The archive.org scanned copy also uses "cañon".

I think it should be updated to accurately reflect the printed edition. If you are interested in having this text set up as a proper transcription project, so that can be updated and proof read against that scanned copy, let me know you want to tackle this and I'll set it up. I have made the changes. I don't see a need for a "proper" transcription. Gutenberg's copy already has detailed erratta, and I cross-check everything with the archive.org copy (both linked above). --Salty-horse 18:52, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

PDF creation problem

[edit]

I'm not sure about the reason, but this book cannot be properly saved in PDF format, neither by the book creator nor by individual chapters. The converter properly saves chapters headers but in place of text it saves: "pages index="A study in scarlet.djvu" from=19 to=24 tosection="chapter1"/>" M0ntY (talk) 00:13, 22 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
