Two Versions: 8 paragraphs vs 13 paragraphs

[edit]

Apparently, there are two versions of the circular. An 8-paragraph version, as originally cited, and a 13-paragraph one that I'm citing here: Two Years in China: Narrative of the Chinese Expedition, Page 270. The contents of the two are the same, just different paragraphing. I have read both, and the 13-paragraph actually seems a better fit than the 8 one. So, I have changed it into a 13-paragraph one. --Magnet larry (talk) 09:33, 17 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Cantonese Translation

[edit]

A Cantonese translation of this work is now available through the multilingual Wikisource at 義律通函. But Cantonese is one of those languages that do not have their own Wikisource sites. Because of that, this page can’t directly be linked up with and to its Cantonese translation. Yet, ironically, the Cantonese translation has already been linked to this page. So, currently, it’s a one-way street from Cantonese to English but not the reverse. To bypass this problem, a note with a link to the Cantonese translation has been added to the header box of the page, instead of the usual link on the left side.
