Talk:Dictionary of National Biography, 1885-1900/Ramsay, John (d.1513)

Widespread uncertainty seems to exist about the number and identity of John Ramsay's wives. I believe that he had only two wives. The first was Janet Kennedy, 1480-1543, whom he married on 6 November 1505; the second was Isobel Livingston, 1490-1552, whom he married in about February 1507, and with whom he had at least one son, William, 1510-1569. Also, the comment that he died in 1513 appears to gloss over the fact that he was killed in action at the Battle of Flodden on 9 September 1513.

- Thank you for the comment. The updated version in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography also has him marrying Isabel Cant in 1484.
