In the preface section, it says "to apologize forcertain errors and misprints", no space between the words "for" and "certain." Is this a transcription error, or in the original text? --Zandperl 02:21, 14 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Diagrams

[edit]

It would be nice to get some illustrating diagrams and such for some of the stuff in here. I remember thinking that would help a lot when I read it a while back. I Might be able to do some but it would probably not be for a while. Also, is there any problem with doing this, I don't think there would be since it's PD but I'm not sure. --AndrewBuck 23:55, 17 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I added all the graphics from the book that were original, so far as I could tell. Somebody please let me know if I've breached copyright in some way—but since Abbott illustrated it, and he's been dead more than 70 years, I think we're okay. Atchius 20:37, 2 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Correction needed?

[edit]

I beleieve one of the links to one of the chapters in incorrect. The link to section 19 is as follows:

Section 19: How, though the Sphere shewed me other mysteries of Spaceland, I still desired more; and what came of it

"Shewed"....I'm pretty sure that's not correct, but I'm not going to change it unless someone agrees with me. Seldon1 19:24, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's correct. Some weird British way of talking, no doubt. Atchius 20:36, 2 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's an archaic spelling of the word "showed", although it's pronounced identically. You'll find a mixture of the two in texts of this sort of age, both in British English and American English. It definitely should not be pronounced "shoed".

Footnotery

[edit]

The footnotes definitely belong in the chapters they are referred to in. 68.39.174.238 16:28, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
