Titling of complementary and dedicatory works

For the purpose of titling these items, the following approach has been taken.

1. spelling and capitalisation have been retained.
2. 'u' and 'v', and 'i' and 'j' have been normalised.
3. abbreviations have been expanded (e.g. Lo. to Lord, Fr. to Francis, Ch. to Charles, etc.)
4. For those items which have a title, this has been truncated (e.g. To the most honourable and excellent Lo. the Earle of Essex. Great Maister of the Horse to her Highnesse, and knight of the Noble order of the Garter. &c. is reduced to To the most honourable and excellent Lord the Earle of Essex
5. For those items without a title, the first verse has been used.
