Talk:The Film that Wasn't

This piece is a faithful translation by Danny (talk) of the speech delivered by Ram Loevy at Tel Aviv University on 11 February 2009. In it he describes the process by which he was able to make his film, The Film that Wasn't about torture in Israel and the Occupied Territories. The translation from the Hebrew is based on a transcript of the speech given to me by Mr. Loevy. It is published here with his full knowledge and acquiescence. Obviously, any errors in the translation are my own.

The reason for its publication here is to serve as a primary source for an article about the film in Wikipedia which I plan on completing tomorrow.

At the same time, it is an important document in its own right, describing not only attitudes toward torture in Israeli society, but also providing insights into the role that the media (in this case television) can play in focusing public dialogue on major issues of the day and, hopefully, bringing about seminal change in attitudes and actions. Permission was explicitly granted to use the speech here via a phone conversation with him this afternoon, and he then sent me the transcript so that it could be translated and posted here. Can you get a copy of the permission sent to mailto:info@wikisource.org, so we can have it filed and registered against an OTRS permission?
