This translation is not PD

Although the great majority of works found in Project Gutenberg are Public Domain in the United States, a few of them are not. These exceptions are always distributed with permission from the copyright holder, and are clearly marked as being copyrighted texts. This is a contemparary translation of Metamorphosis which is clearly marked in the PG text as "Copyright (C) 2002 by David Wyllie."

It's not a PD translation; the description at the bottom of the page demands attribution, and the link also says "Commercial publication of any of the material in book form is prohibited, without the written permission of the author or translator."--70.233.181.34 12:18, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

The notice has been changed. The version on this page was from October 2003, and can be seen on the Internet Archive at [:http://web.archive.org/web/20031003204425/http://www.mala.bc.ca/~johnstoi/stories/kafka-E.htm]. That one said:

This translation, prepared by Ian Johnston of Malaspina University-College, Nanaimo, BC, Canada, is in the public domain and may be used, in whole or in part, by anyone for any purpose, without permission and without charge, provided the source is acknowledged.

Unfortunately it seems that the translator did not understand what "public domain" meant, as this statement is contradictory and said "without charge" and "provided the source is acknowledged." Since then, the translation was updated and the notice was changed to its current form. While it is not possible to remove something from the public domain previously dedicated to it, it is not clear whether this original notice actually clearly do so in the first place. Unfortunately this may mean that the translation is not PD and the license is not suitable for Wikisource. NTK 23:53, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Actually digging back further, I find that the version released in January 1999 is in fact advertised dedicated to the public domain without qualification. I am going to revert this page to that version. NTK 23:57, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
