Status of this book

It looks like the text of this was downloaded from Project Gutenberg and uploaded with few or no changes. There is also a scanned copy in the Commons that was downloaded from the Internet Archive, and work has already been done proofing a handful of pages from that.

I downloaded the text from here and made some minor changes to the markup--mostly changing double dashes to em dashes and L's in front of numbers to pound signs. I will be re-uploading the text broken up by chapter, using page names like "Book First/Chapter I" to follow the book's own usage. After that, maybe we can use the match-and-split tool on them.

This edition differs slightly from the Project Gutenberg edition that was originally uploaded here. Some punctuation has changed; even the names of a character or two have changed.
