Purpose

This template enables linking from The American Cyclopædia entries to other American Cyclopædia entries in the same edition. This template links absolutely, so it can be used anywhere, including in the Page: namespace.

Usage

{{AmCyc article link|name of the article}}

{{AmCyc article link|display name|name of the article}}

{{AmCyc article link|display name|name of the article|nosc=yes}}

{{AmCyc article link|name of the article|nosc=yes}}

In addition, the year parameter allows the edition to be specified. It defaults to 1879.

Examples

Simple

{{AmCyc article link|Wheatley, Phillis}} gives: Wheatley, Phillis

Different link

Where the underlying link is different from the text, a second variable can be added to override the displayed text:

{{AmCyc article link|Phillis Wheatley|Wheatley, Phillis}} gives: Phillis Wheatley

No small caps

Where no small-caps is required, then that can be overridden:

{{AmCyc article link|Phillis Wheatley|Wheatley, Phillis|nosc=yes}} gives: Phillis Wheatley
