This is a simple template that helps format text in the Imperial Aramaic alphabet. It defines the direction as right-to-left and HTML lang property to "arc", or to a user-specified language with the lang parameter.
For Aramaic text in Syriac script, use {{Syriac}} with lang=arc
. For Hebrew script, use {{Hebrew}} with lang=arc
.
This template is not intended for formatting whole paragraphs, but only Aramaic passages in a paragraph that may be left-to-right. (In HTML terms, it's a <span>, not a <div>.)
Usage
[edit]It takes one required argument which can be left unnamed or explicitly named "text". Example:
{{aramaic|𐡀𐡓𐡌𐡉𐡅}}
or{{aramaic|text=𐡀𐡓𐡌𐡉𐡅}}
yields:
- 𐡀𐡓𐡌𐡉𐡅
This is the English Wikisource, so Aramaic <span>s are expected to be embedded in left-to-right paragraphs; therefore by default this template ends with the left-to-right marker (‎
). If you want to disable it, add the argument "lrm=no".
