Template:Cited/doc

This template formats a citation on Wikisource:References to Wikisource.

The documentation wording assumes that a published book is citing Wikisource as that is expected to be the most common situation. However, the template will function equally well with other potential citing publications (for example, newspaper or magazine articles, academic papers, websites, etc.)

Parameters

Required

• work: Name of the cited work on Wikisource.
• title: Name of the book that references the work on Wikisource.

Optional

• wsauthor: Name of the author of the cited work on Wikisource.
  • wsauthor1 to wsauthor4 can be used for additional authors subsequent to the wsauthor parameter. (Only displayed if author is used.)
• wsauthorlink: The page name of the author of the cited work, if different from the wsauthor parameter. For use in cases where disambiguation may be required. Do not use the prefix Author: for this link as that is added automatically.
  • wsauthorlink1 to wsauthorlink4 can be used for additional authors subsequent to the wsauthorlink parameter (matching the equivalent wsauthor1 to wsauthor4 parameters).
• work1 to work4 can be used for additional cited works subsequent to the work parameter
• workdisplay: An alternative name of the cited work on Wikisource, to be displayed instead of work. For use in cases where disambiguation or a cleaner display may be required.
  • workdisplay1 to workdisplay4 can be used for additional cited works subsequent to the workdisplay parameter (matching the equivalent work1 to work4 parameters).
• collection: Name of a collection is mulitple works are cited from a larger work (for example, an encyclopaedia).
• collectiondisplay: An alternative name of the collection on Wikisource, to be displayed instead of collection. For use in cases where disambiguation or a cleaner display may be required.
• url: Link to the book that references the work on Wikisource.
• bookauthor: Name of the author of the book referencing the work on Wikisource
  • bookauthor1 to bookauthor4 can be used for additional authors subsequent to the author parameter.
• bookauthorlink: A link to the author of the book. If a prefix is necessary (for example, Author: to link to a Wikisource author page or w: to link to a Wikipedia biography) these need to be included here as well.
  • bookauthorlink1 to bookauthorlink4 can be used to align with the authors under the same number.
• editor: Name of the editor of the book referencing the work on Wikisource. This name will be followed by the text "(ed.)"
  • editor1 to editor4 can be used for additional editors.
• editorlink: A link to the editor of the book. Functions as bookauthorlink.
  • editorlink1 to editorlink4 can be used for additional editors.
• chapter: The name of a specific chapter within the book in which the Wikisource work has been cited. For use in cases where separate authors have written separate sections of the book (for example, mutliple essays collected in one edition).
• chapternum: The number of the chapter. (Only displayed if chapter is used.)
• publisher: The publisher of the book.
• isbn: The ISBN number of the book.
• deleted: To be used if the work on Wikisource has been deleted since it was referenced in the book. Any text entered in this parameter will cause the phrase "(since deleted)" to appear after the title of the work.
  • deleted1 to deleted4 can be used for additional cited works (matching the equivalent work1 to work4 parameters).
• deletedlink: A wikilink to the archived discussion that resulted in the deletion of the cited work. (Only used if deleted is used.)
  • deletedlink1 to deletedlink4 can be used for additional cited works (matching the equivalent work1 to work4 parameters).
• language: The language of the book (if not English).
• titlenote: Information about the title of the book. For use with translations of the title or similar.

Cosmetic

• edition: Replaces the word edition in the default text
• qualifier: Adds text before the author and title of the Wikisource work. For use to when a specific edition or specific section, chapter or similar subdivision has been cited within the work.
• article: Inserted before the title, to provide the definite article ("the") or similar to the default text.
• collectionarticle: Inserted before the title of a collection, to provide the definite article ("the") or similar to the default text. (Only displayed if collection is used.)
• quote: Adds text in an indented line below the default text. To give further information or an extract from the citing book if relevant to do so.
