Template:EB1head/doc

From Wikisource

Purpose

[edit]

This template is used to create headers specific to the EB1 project.

It automatically places all articles in Category:Encyclopædia Britannica, First Edition; creates a sort key that ignores the Encyclopædia Britannica, First Edition, part of the article name; and adds a link to the project's disclaimer page. Entries without a volume number are also automatically placed in Category:EB1 no volume.

Usage

[edit]

The template supports the following parameters:

{{EB1head
 |volume =
 |previous =
 |next =
 |wikipedia =
 |wikipedia2	=
 |other_projects	=
 |author =
 |extra_notes	=
 |override_notes	=
 |section =
}}

The template goes at the top of an article and should be used for every entry in the encyclopedia. The parameters |volume=, |previous=, and |next= should always be filled in, even when those entries have not been created yet.

Parameter Use
volume Use the volume number for the entry.
previous Use the name of the previous entry, even if it hasn't been created yet.
next Use the name of the next entry, even if it hasn't been created yet.
wikipedia Use the name of the matching entry at Wikipedia, leave blank, or delete.
wikipedia2 Use the name of a second matching entry at Wikipedia, leave blank, or delete.
other_projects Use for linking to matching entries at Wiktionary, Commons, &c., leave blank, or delete. It can also be used for Wikipedia entries. Always include the name of the project and a link to its main page: [[Project Name:Article Name|Article Name]] at [[Project Name:Main_Page|Project Name]]. External links are also a possibility, but should be used with discretion.
author Use the name of the article author, leave blank, or delete.
extra_notes Use for providing any short and essential information about an article's subject (e.g., the present-day spelling of a Chinese city, the present-day location of East Prussian towns, the present-day name of a chemical substance). The extra notes will appear after the disclaimer and should end with a period.
override_notes Use to remove the disclaimer link and any other notes, replacing them with the contents of this field.
section Use to remove the automatically generated article name inside the banner, replacing it with the contents of this field.
