This template uses a <span> element for formatting.
Block-based templates and paragraph breaks cannot be nested inside it.

Template to indicate a span of text is in normal text (as opposed to small caps), typical usage would be inside a block or span of text which is otherwise marked as smallcaps with {{sc}} or {{small-caps block}}
