How to create links to transcriptions.
This is the page that told me not to eliminate line breaks, but it is obvious now that this is necessary and so I edited this page, as follows:

Remove
[edit]- Line breaks. Webpages will normally ignore single linebreaks; so, text broken into different lines (common with scanned text) will usually be seen normally by a reader. Line breaks can cause problems, however (especially with templates, links and tables, and italics/bold that are closed by the line ending), and should therefore be removed.

THE HIDING PLACE.
For peace my soul to Jesus flies;
If I’ve an interest in his grace,
I want no other hiding place.

"A child is given to sanctify
A woman; set her in the sight of all
The clear-eyed heavens, a chosen minister
To do their business and lead spirits up
The difficult, blue heights."
"A child is given to sanctify
A woman; set her in the sight of all
The clear-eyed heavens, a chosen minister
To do their business and lead spirits up
The difficult, blue heights."
Then, right in the middle of me trying to figure this out (which works, by the way, except that I had not yet been able to make it smaller without making it look like double spaced), somebody else apparently came in and did this with em|3, which I changed back to em|2.7 to get the " over the "m" in "woman" as per the original; and they, also added a link to a rendition of the poem that is actually a bit different from the one in the short story.
A woman; set her in the sight of all
The clear-eyed heavens, a chosen minister
To do their business and lead spirits up
The difficult, blue heights."
Without the quotation link:
A woman; set her in the sight of all
The clear-eyed heavens, a chosen minister
To do their business and lead spirits up
The difficult, blue heights."
