Usage
[edit]- This template is part of an experimental and changeable project. Please don't assume any part of it is stable.
This template is used to present a Wikisource Book (i.e. a collection of pages) along with export options. The contents of the template contain all the metadata used by export tools to collate and organise the content of the book.
This template is generated by the BookMaker gadget (not the PediaPress extension), but you can equally hand-code it or edit it after creating with the BookMaker tool. Because the PediaPress extension cannot handle metadata to a suitable extent for Wikisource books, that tool will not generate fully working books.
Parameters
[edit]- contents: This parameter contains a list of all the pages, in order, that you want in the book. You can pipe the links [[Like|this]] if you wish.
- Metadata parameters
In order for the generated ebooks to have full metadata (such as title and author) so that they can get the right filename and sort correctly on reading devices you need to specify the metadata for the book. You can do this in two ways:
- metadata: This is simple the title of a page that is the "reference" for the book. Metadata will be obtained from this page. This avoids duplication and possible divergence of metadata. You should use this method if your ebook is accurately represented by the metadata on a given page, which is usually the case if the book is a one-to-one export version of an existing Wikisource work.
The other way is to enter the metadata via the parameters below. Each of them can take
- title
- author
- translator
- date
These parameters will not be updated if the original Wikisource page's metadata is altered, but they provide more flexibility if the book is a compilation of multiple Wikisource works (or parts of works) or a sub-section of a large work.
