Template:Taxon
Appearance
This experimental template will add a reference to the species name as a floated div. If it shows promise, it will be created as a "proper" template (with /doc, /sandbox, etc.), otherwise it will be quietly deleted. I will experiment with it on this page as well as on pages of Field Notes of Junius Henderson/Notebook 1. Since this is temporarily a taxon definition and sandbox page, use to purge this page after editing it.
Things to do:
- Continue 'tagging' taxa in Field Notes of Junius Henderson/Notebook 1 until we're sure this is useful.
- Create another template ({{TaxonLatin}}?) which is identical to this template, except that names are italicized in the inline-box on the right. So people would use {{taxon|Papilionoidea|butterfly}}, but {{TaxonLatin|Panthera tigris|tyger}}. If that makes sense.
Current usage (likely to change very, very quickly):
- {{taxon|Panthera tigris|tyger}} tyger
- On walking through the zoo, we saw tiger s and lion s and monkey s.
And two disjoined paragraphs:
- On walking through the zoo, we saw tiger s and lion s and monkey s. And my personal favourite, Parastratiosphecomyia stratiosphecomyioides !
- But the best part was the gazelle s!
