Section linking problem

Section linking fails when an act has multiple titles. See for example Espionage Act of 1917#Sec. 3. (or Espionage Act of 1917#sect3) which offers no apparent means of linking to the third section of later titles of the act. djr13 (talk) 03:01, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

This is a known issue and debated to no resolution once or twice before. The main problem is nobody could come up with a way to smart-inherit the title # along with the section number template-wise, followed by some folks don't think titles should be all on the same page but broken out to their own sub-pages instead. -- George Orwell III (talk) 04:32, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Ah, well thanks for the quick response! It seems like the best solution would be to offer an option that allows linking even up to the level that the entire collection were combined on one page; explicitly declaring title number and all options necessary for proper linking (and maybe even for section transclusion, if that's realistic). I'm not sure how much info can really be inherited by these for automatic "id" generation—but manual definition allows easily working around any peculiarities such as strangely ordered sections at the cost of being a little redundant. The consensus on Wikisource seems to be to leave it up to the editors of each work to decide what level of options to use. I'm unlikely to need this function often though, so these are just abstract thoughts. :) Thanks, djr13 (talk) 10:10, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
