IDAHO, a W. central county of Idaho territory, bounded N. by Salmon river, W. by Oregon, and watered by the Little Salmon and other streams; area, 8,500 sq. m.; pop. in 1870, 849, of whom 425 were Chinese. A large portion of the surface is covered with forests of pine. There are several fertile valleys containing good land. On the tributaries of the Salmon are rich placer mines of gold. The productions in 1870 were 1,111 bushels of wheat, 1,580 of Indian corn, 1,675 of oats, 6,310 of potatoes, and 63 tons of hay. There were 285 horses and 663 cattle. Capital, Washington.
