BAKER, James H., educator, was born at Harmony. Me., Oct. 13, 1848. He was graduated at Bates college in 1873; was principal of the high school at Yarmouth, Me,, 1873-75, and at Denver, Col., 1875-90. He assumed the duties of President of the University of Colorado, Jan. 1, 1892, and received the degree, LL. D. from Bates college in 1892. He was president of the National council of education in 1892, and has published a text book on psychology.
