XLV. THUS ON EASTER-MORROW

Part I.

1.Thus on Easter-morrow
Spake an Angel bright and clear;
'Tis no time for sorrow;
Maries, be you of good cheer.
Christ, arisen from His prison,
Is not here.

2.'Why, as He were mortal,
Lifeless in the sepulchre,
Bring ye to the portal
Of the empty chamber myrrh?
What befel ye here, go tell ye,
Nor defer.'

Part II.

1.Eya! Resurrexit
Jesus Christus hodie;
Mala nostra texit:
Ideo concinite,
Alleluya, Alleluya,
Domine.

2.Resurrexit verè
Pro peccante homine:
Ideo sincerè,
Christiani, psallite.
'Te cantamus, te laudamus,
Domine.'
