The Drums of Jeopardy (1920)
by Harold MacGrath, illustrated by Ralph Pallen Coleman

First published by The Saturday Evening Post in January 1920. Filmed twice; in 1923 and 1931. Supposedly, a young Boris Karloff, who previously had a few uncredited movie roles, chose his stage name for his first screen credit during 1920 from the novel.
