Oh thin October sunshine
On thin October leaves—
A ghostly web of laughter
The golden season weaves.

The curt wind's cool caressing
Sinews the laggard soul
To follow, follow, follow
An ever rising goal.

But more to me the laughter
The fading season weaves—
The thin October sunshine
On thin October leaves.
