ACHENSEE, ä′ʜen-zā, a lake in northern Tyrol, Austria, 5½ miles long by ½ mile wide, 20 miles northeast of Innsbruck. Its shores are of great beauty, and it is a noted summer resort, having many hotels and private villas, while steamers carry passengers to points of interest.
