HOOSAC (hoo'sạk) MOUNTAIN, the name given to a spur of the Green Mountains which is in the northwestern part of Massachusetts, on the east side of the valley of the Hoosac River; maximum altitude 2,400 feet. The whole length is about 16 miles. The mountain is noted for its beautiful scenery.
