JOHNSON, Emily Pauline, Canadian poetess: b. Chiefwood, Ontario, 1862; d. Vancouver, 7 March 1913; the daughter of George Johnson, head chief of the Mohawk Indians, and of his English wife. Her poems on Indian subjects are full of dramatic force and intensity. Her works are ‘The White Wampum’ (1804); ‘Canadian Born’ (1903); and ‘Flint and Feathers’ (1912).
