MEYER, Annie Nathan, American dramatist, author and educationalist: b. New York, 19 Feb. 1867. She was educated at home and took examinations at Columbia University, women not then being admitted to the university. She was married to Dr. Alfred Meyer in 1887 and is known for her work as a founder of Barnard College, the women's department at Columbia. She has been active as an anti-suffragist. Author of ‘Woman's Work in America’ (1891) ; ‘Helen Brent, M.D.’ (1893); ‘My Park Book’ (1898); ‘Robert Annys’ (1901); ‘The Dominant Sex’ (1911); ‘The Dreamer’ (1912).
