NORE, nōr, a river in Ireland which has its rise in the mountains in the northeastern part of Tipperary, flows northeast into Queen's County, then southeast through Kilkenny, and after a course of about 70 miles, joins the Barrow River about two miles above New Ross. Kilkenny is the largest city on its banks.
