RATTIGAN, Sir William Henry, English jurist: b. Delhi, British India, 4 Sept. 1842; d. London, 4 July 1905. He was educated at King's College, London; admitted to the bar in 1873; served four times as judge of the chief court of Punjab; was additional member of the supreme legislative council of India 1892-93, and member of the Punjab legislative council 1898-99. In 1895 he was knighted and in 1901 became member of Parliament for northeast Lanarks. He published ‘De Jure Personarum’ (1873); ‘The Science of Jurisprudence’ (3d ed, 1892); ‘Private International Law’ (1895), etc.
