SANCHO PANZA, săn'kō păn'zạ (Sp. sän'chō pän'tha), the faithful squire of Don Quixote (q.v.), who accompanies his master upon his travels, but who takes a prosaic view of the incidents colored and distorted by his master's illusions. He is famous for his shrewd proverbs.
