The Ibis

The Ibis, subtitled "the International Journal of Avian Science", is the peer-reviewed scientific journal of the British Ornithologists' Union. Topics covered include ecology, conservation, behaviour, palaeontology, taxonomy and new species. It has been published since 1859.

The Ibis was published in subsequent series. The volumes are also numbered continuously

  • Series 1 (6 volumes): 1859–1864. Volume 1–6
  • Series 2 (6 volumes): 1865–1870. Volume 7–12
  • Series 3 (6 volumes): 1871–1876. Volume 13–18
  • Series 4 (6 volumes): 1877–1882. Volume 19–24
  • Series 5 (6 volumes): 1883–1888. Volume 25–30
  • Series 6 (6 volumes): 1889–1894. Volume 31–36
  • Series 7 (6 volumes): 1895–1900. Volume 37–42
