The Iliad is one of the two major ancient Greek epic poems (the other being the Odyssey), attributed to the poet Homer. The poem is commonly dated to between 800 and 600 bc. The poem concerns the events that befall the Greek hero Achilles in the final year of the Trojan War, ending with the funeral of Hector.

This edition was translated by William Cowper and published in London in 1791 alongside his Odyssey. This digital edition was completed by Project Gutenberg in 2005 and is based on an 1860 American reprint of an 1849 annotated text.
