Akalkot, Raja of; Fatehsingh Shahji Raji Bonsle, also known as Srimant Bapu Sahib Meherban; became a feudatory of the British Government after the annexation of Satara; an annual payment of Rs. 1,459 was substituted for the original condition of rendering service; the State is under Government control owing to the minority of the present chief; area of the State, 498 square miles; population, 85,000; revenue, 4½ Lakhs; the chief is a 1st class Sardar.
