Col. 1879; Brevet Col. 1883; Col. commandant 3rd Madras Light Infantry, (63rd Palamcottah Light Infantry), 1885; served Burmese Expedition in command of Toungoo and Ningyan (Pyinmana) column, 1885-87 (despatches twice, medal).
