Malik, Hon’ble Captain Umar Hyat Khan, C.I.E., M.V.O.; b. 1873; educ: Lahore Aitchison College; received instruction in riding, drill, farming, veterinary work, farming and horse-breeding; various members of this family are enjoying political pensions; has established a free school; maintains hospitals, Hindu temples, and Moslem mosques; was engaged in Somaliland with the 53rd Camel Corps; was A.D.C. to General Officer commanding; sent with the Younghusband Expedition to Tibet as Transport Officer; attached to H.M. the Amir of Afghanistan, 1906; presented to H.E. Lord Kitchener after return from Tibet Expedition; twice sat in the Punjab Legislative Council, and was one of those who opposed the Punjab Colonisation Bill; appointed Deputy Herald to His Majesty the late Emperor Edward VII, during the Delhi Durbar of 1903 '.
