Narayan Deo Bhauj, Raja: b. 1860; succeeded to gaddi 1837; this family is descended from a younger son of Raja Narayan Bhauj of Bod; the title of Raja enjoyed by the family since the days of the Mahrattas was recognised in 1874; the family cognisance is a peacock: with tail spread; the State is also one of the tributary mahals of Orissa; area, 568 square miles; population, 42,000; maintains a military force of 313 men and 8 guns.
