Ramayya Panthulu, Jayanti, B.A., B.L., Deputy Collector, Madras Service; b, 1861; passed B.A., 1882; joined service in the Cocanada Collectorate as Vernacular Clerk, 1886; English Head Clerk of the same Collectorate, 1888; Huzur Sheristadar, 1890; Tahsildar, 1891; Treasury Deputy Collector, 1892; 4th Presidency Magistrate, Madras, 1911; promoted to 2nd grade and posted to Chittoor, 1913; Personal Assistant to the Collector, Guntur, 1914; one of the founders of the Telugu Academy, Madras, of which he is a Member; greatly interested in the promotion of Telugu Literature; a frequent contributor to ‘Indian Antiquary’, and the ‘Epigraphia Indica’, and the journal of the Telugu Academy; among the articles contributed by him are: Tottaramuddi plates of kataya vana (Epigraphia Indica. Vol II.); three inscriptions of Reddies of Kondavedu; an inscription of Sarvalokasraya (Journal of Telugu Academy, Vol., II); the gift deeds of Madui-a-Naiks (Ibid); the scheme of Hindu Life (an Address read by him before the South Indian Association, Madras, 1913.)
