Rogers, Alexander, I.C.S., (retired); educ: Haileybury College; joined service and arrived in India, 1845; was for sometime employed in Revenue and Judicial Department, Bombay; posted as First Assistant Collector and Magistrate Brach, 1851; at Ahmedabad, in the same capacity, 1852; Collector and Magistrate, Ahmedabad, 1860; Revenue and Police Commissioner, Northern Division, 1865; Member of Council, Bombay, 1872; retired, 1879. Publications: History of the Land Revenue Settlement of Bombay; translation of three modern Persian Plays; and a translation of “Yusuf and Zuleika”; Edited the “Bostan”.
