Sambandam Mudaliar, Pammal, B.A., B.L., High Court Vakil, Madras; y.s. of late Mr. P. Vijayaranga Mudaliar, Inspector of Schools, Madras; b. 1873; educ: Pachaiyappa’s High School, Madras, and the Presidency College, Madras; B.A., 1893; had a double first class in English and History; B.L., 1897; apprenticed to Mr. (now Hon’ble Mr. Justice) Kumaraswami Sastri; enrolled as Vakil, 1898; won the Norton Gold Medal and the Powel Vernacular Prize for Tamil composition and essay writing; one of the founders of the Suguna Villasa Sabha, the leading amateur dramatic society in Madras; takes an active and leading part in amateur theatricals; is the author of a Tamil drama which has been prescribed by the Madras University as a text-book; is a prominent member of the Madras South Indian Athletic Association; Dharmakarta of the Mylapore Temple; Trustee of the Annadana Samajam; Director, Mylapore Hindu Permanent Fund and also of the Central Urban Bank; a past Master of Lodge ‘Carnatic’, of which his father was one of the founders.
