Scott, Hon’ble Sir Basil, Kt., (1909), M.A., Bar-at-Law, Chief Justice, Bombay; 2nd s. of late Henry Scott of Bombay; b. 1859; educ: Haleybury; Balliol College, Oxford; passed B.A., 1882; M.A., 1886; became pupil to Mr. Jasper Peele and then to Sir Gorell Barness and Mr. William Latham; called to Bar (Inner Temple), 1884; admitted as Advocate, Bombay High Court, 1885; acting Advocate-General, 1899; and again in 1901, when he was confirmed; acting Judge, Bombay High Court, 1906; reverted as Advocate General, 1906; Chief Justice, Bombay High Court, 1908.
