Jaga Rao Garu, F.R.A.S., F.M.U., etc.; comes of the Godai family of Vizaga patam; s. of late Rai Bahadur Narasinga Rao Garu and Achayamma Garu (after whom the present Mrs. A. V. N. College at Vizagapatam is named); b.1886; educ: at the London Mission School, Vizagapatam; succeeded to the estate, 1898; Vice-Chairman, Mrs. A.V.N. College, Vizagapatam; maintains a Meteorological Observatory, founded by his ancestor, 1841; opened a Seismological Observatory; Fellow, Royal Colonial Institute and Society of Arts, 1900; Member. International Association of Botanists; visited London, Paris, Switzerland, and Italy, 1900; presented to Vizagapatam a bronze statue of late Empress Victoria; maintains a hospital and a rest-house at Waltair.
