Travancore, Maharaja of; H.H. Sri Padmanabha Dasa, Vanchi Pala Sir Rama Varma Kulasekara Kirtipathi, Manney Sultan, Maharaja Raja, Ramaraja Bahadur, Samsher Jang, G.C.S.I., (1903); G.C.I.E., (1904); M.R.A.S., F.R.G.S., F.M.U.; b. 1857; ascended the masnad, 1885; educ: under the care of Messrs. Annaji Rao, Raghunatha Rao,, etc.; m. in his 23rd year (wife died after the birth of a son, 1882); introduced the system of making laws through the aid of a Legislative Council in the State, 1888; received H.R.H. Prince Albert Victor of Wales, 1889; under took a pilgrimage to Benares, 1890; adopted two princesses, Sethu Lakshimi Bai and Sethu Parvathi Bai; same year His Highness received Lord and Lady Curzon; attended the Delhi Durbar, 1903; Inaugurated the Sri Mulam Popular Assembly, 1911; undertook an extensive tour in Southern India, 1911; Officer de l'Instruction Publique Address: Trivandrum,Travancore State, South India.
