(1886); b. 1842; s. of Henry Francis Wollaston; educ: Stockwell Grammar School, joined service in the India Office, 1859; became Senior Clerk, 1873; Assistant Secretary, 1884; in charge of the Revenue and Satistics Department, 188688; Registrar and Superintendent of Records, 1898; Examiner in Persian at the Staft College, 1880; Superintended the translation of Oriental Inscriptions in the S. Kensington Museum, 1881. m. Caroline Marianne (died 1902); d. of late Sir Albert William Woods, Publications: Translation of Anvar-i-Suhail; edited Sir L. Felly’s Miracle of flay Hasan and Hussain; English-Persian Dictionary; Half-Hours with Muhammad; The Sword of Islam; The Religion of the Koran; and (with Sir Roper Lethbridge) a Gazetteer of the territories under the Government of India.
