An unpublished work by Burton alleging a Jewish blood libel, several colleagues tried to publish it after his death but were taken to court by David Lindo Alexander, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, and the book was seized. It is today held in the Board of Deputies of British Jews archives, filed under the heading "B2/9 16A". This heavily censored version was released by W. H. Wilkins in 1898.
