CALID′IUS, Marcus (?-B.C. 47 ) . A Roman orator and a contemporary of Cicero, whose recall from exile he advocated. He was prætor in B.C. 57 and after B.C. 49 was made Governor of Cisalpine Gaul, where he died. His oratory is praised by Cicero (Brutus, 75-80).
