DEUS-RAMOS, dā'oosh rä'môsh, João de (1830-97). A Portuguese poet, born in the Province of Algarve and educated at the University of Coimbra. His verses, chiefly lyrical, consist of the following collections: Flored do campo (1805); Ramo de flores (1870); and Folhas soltas (1876). He also wrote a Diccionario prosodico de Portugal e Brazil (1877). He is one of the most popular of contemporary Portuguese poets.
