EVANSTON. A city and the county-seat of Uinta County, Wyo., in the southwestern part of the State; on the Bear River, and on the Union Pacific Railroad (Map: Wyoming, D 5). It is the seat of the State Institution for the Insane. The city is an agricultural and stock-raising and coal-mining district, and has some industrial establishments, the principal of which are railroad repair-shops. Oil has been found in the vicinity. Population, in 1890, 1995; in 1900, 2110.
