FORST, fṓrst. A town in Brandenburg, Prussia, on the Neisse, 44 miles south of Frankfort-on-the-Oder (Map: Prussia, F 3). It has tanneries, and manufactories of woolen cloth and buckskin. Forst was founded in the thirteenth century. It has belonged to Prussia since 1815. Population, in 1890, 23,500; in 1900, 32,075.
