FUGA, fōō'gȧ, Ferdinando (1699-1784). A prominent Italian architect of the Barocco period, born in Florence in 1699. He worked principally at Rome, where his masterpiece is the Corsini Palace. He then went to Southern Italy, and died while engaged in reconstructing the Cathedral of Palermo.
