GERMERSHEIM, gĕr′mẽrs-hīm. A fortified town in the Bavarian Palatinate, Germany, situated a short distance from the Rhine, and nine miles southwest of Speyer. It has some manufactures. Population, in 1900, 5868. The Romans had a station here under the name of Vicus Julii. The French were defeated here by the Austrians in 1703.
