KOHLRAUSCH, Heinrich Friedrich Theodor (1780-1867). A German historian and educator, born at Landolfshausen. He studied at Göttingen, and afterwards at Berlin, Kiel, and Heidelberg. After teaching at Düsseldorf and at Münster, he was made general inspector of education of the Kingdom of Hanover. His most important work is Deutsche Geschichte für Schulen (16th ed. by Kentzler, 1875). Mention should also be made of the following: Kurze Darstellung der deutschen Geschichte (15th ed. 1894); Chronologischer Abriss der Weltgeschichte (15th ed. 1861); and Die Geschichte und Lehre der Heiligen Schrift (1811).
